This is the most common question we get. Our main towers and fibre exchanges have battery backups, so the KCS network stays online when the power goes off. However, your router at home needs power to broadcast the Wi-Fi signal. If you plug your router into a mini-UPS or inverter, your KCS internet will keep working perfectly during load shedding.
Yes. Unlike standard ISPs that only cover the suburbs, we specialise in connecting rural areas like Barberton, White River, and the outlying farms of Mbombela. If you cannot get Fibre, we can install a high-speed Wireless (Microwave) link that gives you fibre-like speeds without the cables.
We know many ISPs promise "Uncapped" but then throttle your speed if you use too much data. KCS offers Uncapped and Unthrottled lines. This means you can stream Netflix, download updates, and game as much as you want without worrying about running out of data or your speed dropping halfway through the month.
We know you need to get online fast. For Wireless connections, we can often get you installed within 2 to 5 days. For Fibre (Frogfoot/DNATel), the timeline is usually 7 to 14 working days depending on the network operator. If you have an existing fibre box in your house, we can often activate you remotely in 24 hours.
Yes. You don't need to lose your business or home number. We can port your current Telkom number to our VoIP network. This saves you money on line rental and gives you clearer voice quality over your new internet connection.
Living in the Lowveld means dealing with storms. The equipment we install remains the property of KCS ISP (on rental options), which means we maintain it. However, we strongly recommend using a surge protector plug for your router to protect it from power surges and lightning spikes.

Concern – Line Shaping / Throughput Throttling
I’ve been experiencing inconsistent speeds over the past two weeks. Although my router stats (signal strength, noise, link capacity) remain stable, actual throughput drops significantly—often from my 10 Mbps package down to 5 Mbps, 2 Mbps, or even lower, making the connection unusable at times.
Interestingly, after reporting the issue, speeds usually return to normal, but the problem keeps coming back. This suggests possible congestion, throttling, or capacity issues beyond the radio link.
I’d appreciate more transparency around whether any traffic shaping or peak-time management is applied, and a deeper investigation into tower or backhaul congestion. Improving consistency would make a big difference.
